Every
summer, for the past five years, Northwest University classmates from
the 60's have come together for a delightful weekend of refreshment in
the beautiful, private campground where they enjoy a relaxing weekend
of reconnecting with old friends. It's a time for sharing music,
laughter, and spiritual encouragement.
FORMAT:
The activities of the weekend will begin about 6:00 Friday evening with a barbecue and fellowship around the campfire. This is a great time for connecting one-on-one (no program).
Saturday morning our host and fellow alums put on a hearty campfire breakfast. Saturday noon is the big potluck picnic when everyone brings their favorite dishes to share. Following the Picnic we have an afternoon
of fellowship, entertainment, and praise, with many musical specials
including solos, duets, trios, and more from your old classmates.
Already indicating plans to participate this year are, Gary Liden, Dale
& Rita Lidstrom, and The Ambassador's Trio (1967) - Elvin Huston, Ray
Sparre, and Jerry Snyder. Saturday evening, after a lite dinner, we have another informal time of sharing around the campfire.
Sunday morning
a continental breakfast will be available followed by a worship and
communion service at 10:00 A.M. Dale & Rita (Parker) Lidstrom will
be ministering in that final service.
FACILITIES:
The
campground will be available to us from Friday through Sunday at no
charge. Camper's and RVs are welcome. The campground is somewhat
primitive and does not have RV hookups, however your self contained
units will be just fine. There is a central bathhouse with two toilets
and one shower. For those wishing to secure a motel, we recommend Three Rivers Inn & Restaurant.

This motel has been remodeled recently, and has been very satisfactory
to many of our Reunion guests. The
average cost for a room for 2 at Three Rivers $100.00 a
night. This motel is only 3 or 4 miles from Vandenburg
Campground. If you wish,
there are a number of other motels available in the Burlington-Mount
Vernon area along I-5. None of these should be more than 15 miles from
the campground. You can search those out online.
FINANCES:
From
the outset we have sought to facilitate an event with low overhead and
no charges to attend. The Vandenburgs have donated the use of the
campground. We structure the Saturday picnic as a potluck with people
bringing hot dishes, salads finger foods and desserts. There is enough
food to cover both lunch and dinner on Saturday. The remaining
expenses have always been covered by the free will contributions that
are given at the event. Understanding this, we hope that anyone who
can afford the gas and lodging expenses will feel free to come be a
part of this delightful experience.
