HEALTH PROGRESS REPORT

 Tuesday, November 18, 2008

My echo stress test was administered this past Friday, November 14th, and the immediate results (with documents to follow in five to seven days) are that I am doing very well.  I am "released" to minister again.  Praise the Lord!  I am on a cardiac rehabilitation schedule, which will run through January 2009: three sessions per week, on a variety of machines.  I am to exert at a moderate level, increasing in exertion with time, over the entirety of the program.  Each day, each task, is a reminder of the precious loving kindness of God!
Now... here's a wonderful piece of news, which we desire to share with you!  A tremendous blessing!  The three-plus months, since the August 5th experience, did not allow us any ministry (and accompanying provision), plus left us with bills.  God placed a thought in the hearts of family and friends... an extraordinarily loving thought.  We want to give a praise report to you today!
We have been able to pay our monthly bills and live out of the contributions which friends and family sent to us for these few months of rehabilitation, when we had no income.  Such love... and... such a help!  In addition, we have received word in the mail, this past week, that... the hospital and physician bill has been satisfied 100%, with a remaining balance of -0- due!!!  This was a large amount!  The Lord be praised!!  We are resuming ministry schedule, with services at two churches in November and one in December (see our Itinerary), and then will resume our normal schedule, beginning in January, with meetings in Arizona.  (That sounds warm and good, doesn't it!)  God's provision has been astounding!  We feel overwhelmed with all of His goodness to us!  And... we thank each of you for "caring" for us, in the ways which He placed in your hearts.
Surely, our trial has, thus far, only proven His "goodness" in multiplied ways.  Even our marriage and personal relationship have taken on a renewed sense of priceless blessing!
God is so good!  And so are His dear people-- you!  Rita and I thank you from our hearts!!
One final comment: Elvin and Eunice have been so kind and faithful in their tireless endeavors to "keep everyone posted".  God was good to us when, those years ago... as young people, just setting sail at Northwest... they came into our lives.  They are a catalyst among us for immense good.  May the Lord, who observes all such things, reward them accordingly.  I not only pray this: I pledge myself to be part of this, God so helping me.
Now... may "the light of His presence" continually dwell upon you, our eternal friends!  We look forward so much to the next opportunity to be with you.  May it be sooner, rather than later!  Amen!

Look what the Lord has done!  Not only am I continuing in my restoration process, but I want to share with you what is happening as an outgrowth of this recent event in my life.

First, though, I want to thank you for your part in "watching unto prayer" for me.  As I have said to you in a previous communiqué, He heard you!  Thank you for your friendship, love, and caring heart.  May the Almighty continue to bless you in every respect!

All my "vitals" are recording well.  I am on a good, regular and systematic regimen of directed exercise, and gaining stamina and strength. The doctors will test me again about month's end, with an echo stress test, possibly clearing me to begin ministry travels once again, God willing. We'll see.

Now... here's what I was mentioning above:  This past Tuesday evening, the Yakima City Council had a special event, in which they honored the woman who first did CPR on me in that parking lot.  Television cameras were there and it was shown three TV newscasts and one radio station aired the "voice" recording of it.  Praise God!  His "work" is being made known!

We are grateful for the abundant mercy the Lord had on me.  And, as people continue to contact us regarding what the Lord has done... may the Lord get more and more praise for His wonderful works!

We send this to you, with fresh appreciation for all that God has done... and... for your love and friendship!

Until we next have opportunity to see you, know that we love you!

Dale and Rita on August 23, 2008Eunice and I were blessed to be able to spend Saturday, August 23rd, in fellowship with Dale and Rita Lidstrom in Yakima. They had just finished an exhausting day on Friday supervising and assisting in the moving of their office to a new location. Although both of them were tired, the picture on the left shows the joy of the Lord on their countenances. This picture was taken in the afternoon following more than a half a mile walk we had taken together.
Dale, Rita, and Eunice walking and talking The spiritual fellowship we shared together was invigorating and refreshing to all of us. In the picture on the right, Dale is engaged in a rich phone conversation with Dr. Linfield Crowder in American Falls, Idaho who himself, for the past year and a half, has been dealing with a ministry altering illness. How inspiring it is to hear these men express their unwavering faith and confidence in the Lord in the midst of their present limitations.

Dale is moving and speaking a little slower these days. He runs out of energy before he runs out of day, but he has discovered something, called an afternoon nap, which does wonders. His strength is returning little by little every day. Both Dale and Rita have been deeply moved by the love and thoughtfulness of so many of our 60s Alumni Family. The cards, the emails, the phone calls, and the practical generosity of so many, have been the fragrance of God's nearness to this couple who have dedicated their lives to His calling and service. Through tears Rita said, "We never knew we had so many friends".
