Health Update

March 10, 2010
Linfield and Nellie Blue Crowder  are back in their home in American Falls, Idaho after spending a few months in the home of their daughter Alice and her family in Twin Falls.  They arrived back in American Falls Sunday along with a friend who has come to live with them, and assist with their daily needs.  Dr. Crowder reported in today from the dialysis center in Pocatello, ID where he was undergoing his second of three hemo-dialysis treatments for the week.  He spends a lot of  his time in a wheel chair these days, and is on oxygen 24/7. He does get around at home with a walker or two canes, and is trying to force himself to do more walking in hopes of building up his strength some. The dialysis treatments leave him perpetually exhausted. Linfield tries to maintain his sense of humor, and entertains his friends on facebook with his "Little Willie" limericks. As you pray, remember these dear friends in the Lord.

Doctor Crowder has gotten some relief from the sciatic nerve pain problem that plagued him for several weeks.  However due to a hernia in his abdomen, the decision has been made to make a permanent change from Peritoneal dialysis (administered daily at home) to Hemo-dialysis (administered at a clinic 3 times a week). This change will free him from the very time consuming regamin of day and night dialysis at home. Currently he is experiencing a lot of weakness, and a flair-up of gout in his hands. However, he is keeping his spirit up and interacting with friends by phone, email, and on Facebook. The prayers and contact of friends is a great source of delight and spiritual encouragement.

Dr. Linfield Crowder has been through a challenging two year “day of affliction” with health problems. The last year has been especially difficult since his heart valve replacement surgery. Only recently has he been able to do a little ministry. Just a few weeks ago, he stood in the pulpit of his home church in American Falls, ID to preach for the first time in over a year. On three occasions, he has preached to different church congregations from his home using the Internet program Skype.  Most recently he made two trips to Jerome, Idaho (about 90 miles) where he and Nellie Blue attended services at the senior’s camp meeting there. Right now he needs your prayers for a very painful sciatic nerve problem. He is still on Oxygen at night, and has a time consuming daily dialysis regimen.
